ISTE Ignite Sessions  [ top ]

You know the feeling: a great idea comes to you, but it's six months past the conference proposal deadline! Or perhaps you've been inspired by a new tool and you want to share it RIGHT NOW. Or maybe you just have a great ed tech story to share. An ISTE Ignite session is the perfect venue! Ignite sessions are fast-paced geek events in which the presenter has just 5 minutes and 20 slides. The slides are rotated automatically, with each shown for just 15 seconds, giving each speaker 5 minutes of fame.

We'll be featuring 20 dynamic, engaging speakers who will share their ideas on the theme of "expanding horizons for learners"—this could be a professional practice from the classroom, an exciting new tool that will spark creativity for students, or a personal story of student engagement. Join us for one of two Ignite sessions, Monday, June 25, 8:30–9:30 am and Tuesday, June 26, 3:45–4:45 pm. Not to be missed!

Latin America Ed Tech Showcase  [ top ]

ISTE is celebrating the unique contributions of educational technology initiatives in Latin America. The LatAm Ed Tech Showcase will highlight successful countrywide Ed Tech Initiatives in Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. Hear from the Ministries of Education in these countries in two panels and more about project implementations in concurrent sessions. Jorge Sequeira from the UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America will describe UNESCO’s initiatives in the region.

In addition, the San Diego County and Baja, California initiatives to build bridges, not borders will also be highlighted with sessions from San Diego County Office of Education; Baja California; and the Institute for Mexicans Living Abroad. ISTE’s Professional Development Services also has a session launching the online NETS Leadership Academy available in Spanish.

Participate in this exchange of best practices between Latin America and the rest of the world!

Sessions by CUE  [ top ]

Rock Star and Shred sessions are brought to you by CUE, ISTE’s affiliate partner providing regional support for ISTE 2012.

Rock Star Sessions

Have you ever been to a GREAT presentation, but you can't remember it when you get home? Rock Star Sessions by CUE are designed to prevent that from happening. Each Rock Star Teacher is an exciting and supportive educator who will lead you through an exciting hands-on lesson ending with a finished product. These 'make-it, take-it' sessions will leave you with ideas, skills, and a product you can use tomorrow! Rock Star Sessions cost $25 per session and require advance registration. Sign up is available through the conference registration form.

Shred Sessions

Ever find it hard to choose sessions and speakers off a little “blurb” in the final program? Is the speaker up to your expectations and deserving of your precious ISTE time? Shred Sessions by CUE allow ISTE attendees to get a live test drive of really amazing presenters in short, two minute blasts of their sessions. In a one hour Shred Session, ISTE attendees can see 20 amazing presenters. It’s an uproarious, loud, and fast-paced celebration of all the best in ed tech. Admission is included with your conference registration.
